But installing KeePassX from another source might be a good idea and it doesn't take much time. I have really no idea if this was the case. Maybe this was caused by something in the repository, maybe it wasn't the newest version.

I've ran Unetbootin from Windows 10 and it was fine. I've made a live USB stick to install Cinnamon today 2 times with Unetbootin. Maybe you could try uninstalling and purging it then installing it from source / *.deb file. I've heard that because of the long Debian release cycles, a few programs in the repositories are a bit outdated. I'm using Cinnamon 18.1 Serena (I've just tried Mate on my brother's computer but I've had some bug so I reinstalled Cinnamon instead of Mate). looks like you've been using KDE I'm on LMDE/2 so there maybe some difference there Thanks for the come-back i'll try to get the error info.
